About Us
The Northwest Amateur Radio Society was
established in 1985 and serves amateur
radio operators in the suburban FM 1960
area NW of Houston. NARS is active in
community and public service events.
Each January, NARS holds a banquet to reflect on
the past year’s events and to introduce the board members for
the upcoming year. Spouses and significant others of NARS members
usually attend the banquet which includes dinner, a recognition
program, and home-spun entertainment (which is always great!).
As you can see by reviewing the membership roster, the vast majority of
the NARS members are men.
Often, the banquet is the only occasion when many
of the
ladies attend a club event. It may be the only annual occasion when
some of the women actually see each other and have a chance to talk.
Meeting
Location
Meetings are very informal, usually during the
fourth week of the month. Lately, they have been at the Starbucks in
the HEB parking lot at
Spring-Cypress and Champions Forest. Meeting notices are circulated by
email. Contact Anita Townsend by email
for details.
